Why use Olive Oil Soap???

Oil based soaps are natural, biodegradable and healing for the skin. Olive oil has healing qualities and is moisturising. Most soap we buy in the supermarket, both solid and liquid, contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). It is relatived to Sodium Laurly Sulfate (SLS). This is where the the oil and lye water (water and sodium hydroxide) combine to make soap. Sodium hydroxide is also known as Caustic Soda. Yes the stuff that is used in cleaning etc.

Some may wonder how sodium hydroxide can be better for use than SLES or SLS. It's simple the chemical reaction between to oil and the lye reduces to a neutral pH over the curing period (4-6 weeks) to leave the soap totally safe to use.
